Commissions - Don’t know what to do with your family’s old books?
To initiate a commission, simply go to my Contact page and describe what you have in mind, including details about the person or people you wish to honor. (Be sure to forward a few photos of the books you want to use.) I’ll get back to you with some preliminary ideas, along with an estimate. The cost of a commissioned piece is based on the size of the artwork—generally $400 per square foot (unframed). You can get a feel for my prices on the BiblioQuilts page.
The fun begins once the contract is signed. We’ll work on the piece together, gathering input and books from other family members who want to contribute to the project (if that’s what you want). The final piece will be based on a traditional or contemporary quilt design that can be abstract/geometric or figurative.
Again, the material will come from the books you provide. If desired, I can incorporate other ephemera that may be meaningful to you and your family: photos, newspaper clippings, maps, letters, postcards, etc. My goal is to create an original work-of-art that evokes warm memories for everyone involved.
